The special way this lens is constructed widens the horizontal view with 33% for a 2.4:1 aspect ratio. After digital de-squeezing, the footage becomes a 16:9 aspect ratio. This means the image angle is equivalent to a 26.3 mm lens. This technique produces a true cinematic effect with an oval-shaped bokeh and long horizontal lens flares, like you often see in sci-fi films.
