The EF 500mm f/4L IS I USM is highly suited for sports and nature photography. The lens has an f/4 aperture, making it rather fast for its focal length. This produces a lot of bokeh, letting you completely isolate your subject. The lens also has stabilization for slower shutter speeds even with low light.

The USM provides good and nearly silent autofocus performance. Minimum focus distance is 3.7 meter and it weighs 3.2 kg, so we recommend using a tripod. The lens has 9 aperture blades and consists of 16 elements in 12 groups. Its angle of view is 5° and its dimensions are 146 x 383 mm.
