The Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18 mm f/2.8-4 ASPH is a wide angle zoom made in collaboration with Leica. As such, the glass and coating are of very high quality. The lens has an MFT mount and also covers a Micro Four Thirds image circle. It also has Nano Surface Coating for increased color reliability and improved contrast. The minimum focus distance is 23 cm.

The angle of view is 107° to 62°. The 8-18 mm lens has 7 blades and a round bokeh. The front filter size is 67 mm. The lens dimensions are 73.4 x 88 mm and it weighs 315 g. An 8-18 mm is equivalent to a 16-35 mm full frame field of view.
