AUTHENTIC MADEIRA CAPTURED WITH THESE TWO LENSES

The purchase of lenses and other photographic equipment can quickly become expensive. With a decent setup, you are easily over 5,000 EUR. So renting equipment can be a solution. Especially if you don't really know where to start and want to test some lenses or cameras. I therefore regularly rent equipment from Budgetcam. The camera I bought myself is a Sony A7 IV and with it I use a standard 50mm lens. Thanks to Budgetcam, I was able to travel with confidence and decent equipment.

I alternate with the 24-70 FE 2.8 II. I had not yet tested the 16-35mm. But for a trip to Madeira, I chose to test this lens with a 70-200 FE 2.8. SPOILER: After this trip, I can only recommend this lens to you. Wow!

I also used the following equipment during this trip:

Why did I take these lenses with me?

First of all, I chose the 16-35 lens to capture the vast landscapes. In addition, a compact and easy to carry lens is always an advantage and also a necessity as a photographer.Because your equipment can quickly weigh a lot on long assignments. Furthermore, until now I was more than satisfied with the 24-70 FE II lens. The quality of this lens is fantastic, so the expectations for the 16-35 were high. However, with the 24-70 I could not take the wide-angle photos I had in mind.

So I hope to recount this review with as much vibrancy as the lively streets of Funchal and as much adventure as a walk along the levadas of Madeira! (Levadas are irrigation canals or aqueducts built to transport water from the mountainous interior to the island's agricultural areas and villages).

Like the 24-70 FE, the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM lens is known for excellent image quality and sharpness. Thanks to its updated autofocus, this lens offers fast and accurate focusing even in low light or moving subjects. With a wide range of 16-35mm, the lens allows you to capture a variety of creative possibilities, from beautiful landscapes to dynamic cityscapes.

The lens is built with materials that can take some beating. It is dust and moisture resistant, making it suitable for a variety of conditions. Moreover, you can also use it on a gimbal like the DJI Mavic 3 and the 16-35 FE lens is an ideal lens to use as standard on cinema cameras like the FX3 or FX30.

Wide and big

With a range of 16-35mm, this lens is very versatile. From the vast vistas of the coastline to the charming alleys of the old town, no subject is too big or too small for this lens. It's like taking a panoramic selfie with the whole family of hikers you meet on the trails of Madeira!

Light and Luminous

Whether you want to capture the sunrise on the Pico do Arieiro or watch the last rays of the setting sun disappear into the Atlantic Ocean, this lens won't let you down. With a constant aperture of f/2.8, you'll get bright, vivid photos, even at nightfall.

Weatherproof

Don't worry about a little rain or some salty sea air - this lens is built like a tank and stands up to the most freakish weather conditions. So if you catch yourself at an unexpected dance at a local bar or accidentally get a wave on you while climbing a cliff, know that your photography equipment is as tough as you are. Conclusion

The Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM lens is not just another piece of glass - it is a versatile lens. Your best friend, your travel companion and your ticket to endless adventures on your trip. So be sure to include this lens in your camera bag when you go on vacation soon. You will capture every second of it with style and beautiful images as a result.
